Week 13 Part A: Online Advertising - Analysis of the Marketplace

Advertisement research has been quite interesting, I noticed when I’m checking Instagram there’s quite a few food sponsored posts and I’ve also seen musician sponsored post from other accounts. I also see some cosmetic and fashion sponsored ads. YouTube ads include a number of different ad brands and companies. The YouTube ads often seem to be random it feels while Instagram ads seem to be more targeted toward the user. I do find that the YouTube advertisements are quite bothering because some ads include the 5-10 second non-skippable ads. I’m not super familiar with Facebook ads because it’s not a platform I use super often, but I find it very interesting how relevant Instagram ads are. During scrolling you can be thinking or talking about a product or restaurant and the advertisement or sponsored post appears, certain companies have definitely mastered the Instagram algorithm. I also find that the Instagram ads normally have good photography, sometimes they even make you click and head to the Instagram pages.

Next, it’s time to compare different types of advertisements for example newspaper, magazine, billboards, radio and tv which are more traditional ad sources. Based on the media that I often see, it mostly contains social media and tv. I rarely look at newspapers and magazines and I feel that billboards are not often paid attention. For example a billboard that I would personally read is one in downtown LA or San Diego that show special events or big concerts. I would say that social media like Instagram and YouTube ads may reach more people sooner and faster because so much of the population in developed countries own smartphones and laptops. I also think that social media ads can also target audiences more effectively than TV, the television commercials won’t reach people without cable and I find that tv commercials can be quite overplayed and become bothersome as well. I think that Instagram advertisement is very efficient, I’ve also been able to get some good results from them.

Morgan's Blog (Week 1-CSIT 155)

Welcome to My Blog!       ~Hello~ Bienvenidos ~ 안녕하세요     Hello everyone! So I decided to go with one of the “Notable” pink styled themed because it was one of the first templates I really felt fit the blog style I envisioned. This template automatically caught my eye so I went with it! First, I’m a fan of pink colored things including clothes, gifts and makeup and I like the fairly simple blog template.  I also feel that pink is a nice and pleasant uplifting color so I like to have the color incorporated in my media themes. Pink is bright and is often used in a pastel way or in a retro way and I am also a fan of those styles of design. (I also utilize pink quite...

Week 16: Social Media Management Tools

This week is really interesting because we will be taking a look at a number of different marketing tools that I have actually never seen. So this is exciting! I didn't know there were external sites outside of Google and YouTube Analytics to track data, this is something that's really interesting to look into.  The first site is Sprout Social and it looks relatively use friendly to use and it gives you a 30 day free trial. Looks like one of the cons it that its starts at $99 a month and that's stated to be more costly than others.  The next site is HootSuite and this is considerably cheaper than the previous Sprout Social, starting at $29 a month. It also looks like there is a free plan too which is great for new marketers, it says that one of the cons is limited tools.  Zoho Social looks like an affordable marketing application starting at $10 for individuals, but more expensive starting at $200 for agencies. Zoho offers a lot in terms of social me...

This week is a really big week because the content is about several different social media/business platforms as well as social media influencing which is something that I am pursuing. I just opened a new Twitter and LinkedIn account for my kpop page. First, LinkedIn is something that I have opened a long time ago and I also have opened a personal Twitter a while ago. This is the first time I’m using both for a more business aspect of social media. I’m excited to have my new Twitter handle @moskpoppage! Twitter:  https://twitter.com/moskpoppage LinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/mo-b-379a5520b/   For the LinkedIn platform, I think it’s cool how it connects you to other business around and companies in your field of business. This is something I want it really engage in further to connect to others in my area of entertainment and social media, I haven’t really used LinkedIn so it will be really helpful to increase my usage of the application and add more to my pr...
