Morgan's Blog (Week 1-CSIT 155)

 Welcome to My Blog!

   ~Hello~Bienvenidos~안녕하세요

Hello everyone! So I decided to go with one of the “Notable” pink styled themed because it was one of the first templates I really felt fit the blog style I envisioned. This template automatically caught my eye so I went with it! First, I’m a fan of pink colored things including clothes, gifts and makeup and I like the fairly simple blog template.

I also feel that pink is a nice and pleasant uplifting color so I like to have the color incorporated in my media themes. Pink is bright and is often used in a pastel way or in a retro way and I am also a fan of those styles of design. (I also utilize pink quite a bit on my Kpop social media pages so I wanted to use it for my first blog here! )

For me I found that the “Notable” theme was smooth to read and scroll through. I also think the pictures on the right and captions/write ups on the left makes for a simple but fun and trendy blog theme. I personally like a mix of pictures and words when I’m reading an article or post online, so that is another reason why I like this style of template. It’s always nice to have a bit of visual with good story!

Next, let’s compare social media platforms! I think that social media apps/platforms can be interchangeable and it depends on your audience and the reach you have. Some business use several different platforms and some may only use one or two. I think figuring out which platform to use can also depend on the marketing results you have on each. For example, your business may have higher engagement on Instagram rather than Facebook or on Twitter rather than Instagram etc.

I do find that many social media influencers and restaurants/shops excel on Instagram and TikTok. I think that more public oriented businesses suit Instagram well. Facebook is also good for community and small businesses because you’re able to connect to people around the community rather efficiently. YouTube is also a really large platform for people who are into influencing and selling as well because you can get full length videos uploaded and shared on there.

For personal use... apps like Snapchat and WhatsApp etc. are useful for communicating with people even in other parts of the world for free. Snapchat is sometimes used for public subscriptions, but many people use it for personal use. Facebook is one of those interchangeable apps as well, because it’s often used for personal use.  In conclusion, I think the biggest public platforms are Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Twitter. While Facebook and Snapchat can be used for more personal uses.

  1. I like that you chose your theme based on how some of your other platform accounts are structured!

  2. I really like the pastel colors that you chose, I personally have always liked the pastel aesthetic and think it works very well when being presented to anyone or just for yourself. The idea of Facebook being used as a community building feature for smaller businesses is a great point and something I did not put much thought into before!

This is the first time I’m using both for a more business aspect of social media. I’m excited to have my new Twitter handle @moskpoppage! Twitter:  https://twitter.com/moskpoppage LinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/mo-b-379a5520b/   For the LinkedIn platform, I think it’s cool how it connects you to other business around and companies in your field of business. This is something I want it really engage in further to connect to others in my area of entertainment and social media, I haven’t really used LinkedIn so it will be really helpful to increase my usage of the application and add more to my profile.
