This week is about researching reach and visuals through social media and business. For my business as a Kpop social media influencer visuals are a must. I am also the face of my business and I advertise for stores and brands so good visual post and content are very important to reach and connect with others.
The four businesses I am going to look at that are in my general area of business are:
1. YesStyle
2. Innisfree (USA)
3. K-Place
4. Kpop Station
YesStyle
First, YesStyle is a worldwide K-Beauty & Fashion and Instagram is definitely an effective platform it appears for the clothing shop. I believe they only sell online and they have an interesting instagram media strategy because they do not always use hashtags on their posts. On some of their post they hashtag things like, “ #YesStyle, #YesStyler, #ootd, #koreanfashion, and #kbeauty.” YesStyle often switches up the hashtags as well.
YesStyle has 1.3 million followers on Instagram and it looks like they post 3-5 times a day on average. It looks like the photos with the models rather than the merchandise/products receive the most likes and comments. YesStyle has recent post every few hours and the “likes” amount seem to be slightly inconsistent with the amount of followers at times it seems. It appears they receive some comments on every post, ranging from at least 8-20 comments. A cool thing that the company does is ask a question as the caption or uses a question about an outfit choice is something I can use like they do. I can also use some of their hashtags since myself and the K fashion company are in the same business field.
Innisfree (USA)
Innisfree is another worldwide company, they specialize in Korean skincare and cosmetics. Innisfree has some distribution in Sephora makeup stores, malls and small vendors as well as online. The headquarters is in Korea but they have a US section of the company as well and instagram looks to be a rather successful platform for the business as well. Although hashtags are not often used by the company's page some include, "#innifriends, #inniroutine, and #skincare."
The Innisfree company has 136k followers for there US segment while the main Korean page has 908k followers. The Innisfree store seems to post once a day to once every other day and they get from 300-2000 likes on most post while a few get around 5000 likes which seems like a moderate amount for the amount of followers. The most recent post was on this date and the comment amount has a rather large range from little to none to up to 50 comments. I can definitely use more of the pink color in my feed like Innisfree does.
K-Place
This company is a kpop album/merch store and they are based in the United States and they ship within the US as well. This store has a fair amount on instagram, but their TikTok page has approx. 3x as many followers. The hashtags K-Place uses on instagram are, "#kpop, #kplace" and the band merch that is posted in the photo like #BTS. K-Place has 12.3k followers on Instagram and they seem to post every few days which is a lot less consistent than that of the fashion and cosmetic stores. One interesting thing that K-Place does is post some of their TikTok meme videos on he instagram page and those receive a good number of comments.
Kpop Station
The last business I researched was Kpop Station and this store I would consider as a small Kpop store. This shop is based in LA County and there’s a total of 3 stores in several LA malls. Kpop Station is active on both TikTok and Instagram. After looking through the store’s Instagram I found that hashtags were not used. Kpop Station has a fun aesthetic and sparkles and reels are often used, the Instagram has around 5,000 followers. Each post has comments about album and merch inquiries, customer store communication are very good. I have communicated and received great service with the store. I want to create more connection with my audience like Kpop Station as well.
